Rdio's apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry give you mobile access to your Rdio Favorites. With our mobile apps, you can also download albums, songs and playlists so you can listen even when you're offline.
Download to Mobile
The “Download to Mobile" option stores music directly on your mobile device. Tracks that you set to download will be saved directly on your phone so that you can listen, even if you don't have an internet connection.
To download, simply longpress an album or song, then select “Download to Mobile". Music will begin downloading the next time you have an active connection on your mobile device. Downloaded music is stored directly within the Rdio app on your device, and will remain on your device as long as you have an active Rdio Unlimited account.
See our Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows Phone or BlackBerry guides for further information on downloading music to your mobile device.
Use Offline Mode when you want to use the Rdio app without an internet connection or without using your mobile data plan. You will automatically be bumped into offline mode when your device can't find an active wifi/data connection. In Offline Mode, only music that you've downloaded to your device will still be available for listening.
Toggling Online and Offline Modes
Rdio's mobile apps will automatically detect whether or not your phone has an Internet connection. You can also manually switch to Offline Mode in the menu by pressing "Go Offline".
How can I add or remove music in my Offline Favorites from my computer?
You can manage your Offline Favorites from your computer or directly on your mobile device. On Rdio.com, click on the action menu ⊕ to select Download to Mobile or Remove from Mobile. An orange badge will appear on music once it's been set for Download to Mobile.
Where can I find my mobile device's download progress?
Your phone's download progress is viewable within the Rdio app by going to Menu > Download.
How much music can I download to my mobile device?
You can download as much music as your phone's memory will allow. Once your phone's memory is full, the app won't download more music until you make more space available.
How can I minimize the data used by Rdio?
There are a few ways to conserve it when using Rdio on your mobile device:
Download Your Music
Downloaded music is stored directly on your device, and does not need a WiFi or cellular data connection to play. Whether you’re Online or Offline in your Rdio app, downloaded songs will play locally on your device, and won’t use any data.
Stream and Download Over a WiFi Connection
Connect to WiFi for higher-quality streams and faster downloading without using any cellular data.
Customize your Download Settings
Here's how you can control whether the app will start downloading automatically when you are online, and whether to use your cellular data or WiFi:
- On an iOS device, go to Settings and tap Advanced—you can select “WiFi Only” to minimize cellular data use by ensuring the phone will only download when connected to a WiFi network.
- On an Android device you can do this by going to Settings, and set automatic downloading to “WiFi Only.”
