What’s my Collection, and how do I add to it?

Your Collection is a list of your favorite artists, albums, and songs all in one place.

To add music to your Collection, find an album or song and tap the gray ‘plus’ button. Select “Add to Collection” or “Sync to Mobile.”

To remove music from your Collection, tap the artist name (from the Collection view) and select an album. If you want to remove the whole album, tap the checkmark next to the album name. For individual tracks, tap the checkmark next to the track.

What does Sync to Mobile mean?

Synced music is stored directly on your iOS device, and does not need a Wifi or data connection to play. Sync as much music as will fit in your mobile device’s storage, and it will remain on the device as long as you have an active Unlimited subscription.

To manually switch between Online and Offline Mode, launch the iPhone app, tap the Settings icon in the upper-left corner and select “Go Offline.”

How do I manage my Synced music?

To sync music, find an album or song, tap the gray ‘plus’ button and select Sync to Mobile. Music synced for Offline play is marked with an orange icon. You can also set music on Rdio.com as Sync to Mobile which will sync to your device the next time you launch the Rdio for iPhone app.

Remove albums and songs from your synced collection by tapping the checkmark and selecting Remove from Mobile.

You can manage your Synced songs while you’re online. When viewing your Collection, tap the All button in the upper-right corner to open a menu that allows you to view All Songs or just your Synced Songs.

What can I do with playlists?

You can view your own playlists, ones on which you’re collaborating, and playlists you subscribed to as created by other Rdio users. You can also create new playlists, edit existing ones, and sync playlists for offline access.

To manage your synced Playlists, tap the Playlist icon on the home screen, then tap the All button in the upper-right corner. Select Synced playlists to view, edit, or remove playlists from your Synced Collection.

To create a new playlist, tap any song and select “Add to Playlist.” Then choose the “New Playlist...” option at the top.

Add tracks to your existing playlists by tapping a song title and selecting “Add to Playlist.” Choose which playlist to which you’d like to add from the menu.

To delete a song from a playlist, open your playlist, tap the song, and select “Remove from Playlist.

How do I search for music?

The search bar is located at the top of the home screen. Type the name of what you’re looking for under the title bar—your results will be sorted by Artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists and People.

To control whether the app will start syncing automatically if you are online, tap Advanced. The default is “Always” sync automatically (meaning over Wi-Fi or 3G), but you can switch to “Wi-Fi Only” or “Never.”

Can I customize my homescreen?

Just like the iOS we’re all familiar with, you can tap and hold icons on the springboard to rearrange them. There are two screens available--select your favorites for the homepage or simply rearrange to fit your tastes.

Can the Rdio iPhone app be used with multi-tasking?

Rdio for iPhone supports iOS 4 multitasking. It also means quick widget access to Play/Pause, and the Previous/Next buttons. Additionally, Apple’s headphone controls also work to play/pause and advance to the next track.

For more information on how to use multitasking on your iPhone, visit Apple’s multitasking help page.

Why did my icons turn orange?

Without a Wifi or 3G signal, the Rdio app will enter Offline mode. You will have access to the music you synced in your Collection, as well as any synced Playlists. You can tap any of the greyed-out icons to make the Rdio app search for a signal to reconnect, or go to Settings and select “Go Online.”
