I'm playing music synced to my Android phone. I prefer listening on Android because it sounds great. At the same time I am browsing Rdio web site to search music, manage my collection and playlists, read bios, social features, etc. because the web site is a more complete and convenient interface. Periodically, while browsing around, playback is interrupted and I have to resume it after seeing a message pop up: "your music is paused because it is playing from another location". The aggravating thing is that I am *not* playing any music in the web browser. I am simply browsing the Rdio web site.
I understand that you want to prevent abuse of your streamed music service by people who would share their account with others. But I should be able to simultaneously listen on my Android, and *browse only* via the web. Please fix this or give me a workaround. I would be perfectly okay with, for example, a setting to manually restrict music playback on the device of my choice. Thanks.

Is it safe to assume that you're using New Rdio on the web, and have the player set to Remote Control Mode when you see the interruption? If you're in Remote Control Mode on the web, you shouldn't see any playback interruptions on your mobile device. We've heard reports similar to this issue from other users with Rdio open on the web while listening over mobile, and we're still exploring possible sources of the issue.
Generally, having less web-instances open while listening over mobile seems to cause less issues—if you have several tabs of Rdio open on your computer, try closing all but one, and see if that changes behavior.
If you're seeing this issue repeatedly with only one tab open, see if you can discern any pattern or trigger that causes the playback to stop:
- Does any particular action or function performed in the web-instance seem to cause the playback interruption?
- Does the issue seem to occur cyclically at specific time intervals?
- Do you experience the interruptions from the dektop app as well, or only in the browser?
- Does this occur across all browsers?
Let me know if you can discern any pattern to the disconnections—we really appreciate your help investigating.
