It's an eyesore on my screen. I understand that the old interface might have been sluggish, but I don't like a big white box pulling the hell out of my eye from everywhere. It should be a neutral UI element, much like it was before.
Some method of reskinning or toggling back the old skin would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for writing in and sharing your early thoughts on the new interface. We're sorry to hear you're not digging the update—the new design is here to stay, but we're definitely collecting feedback on this change and we'd love to get your specific thoughts after you've had a bit of time to play around with it.
Once you've had a few days with the update:
- Anything particular that's really not working for you?
- Experiencing specific trouble finding or using a specific functionality post-update (scrolling, sections, etc.)?
- Just the coloring you'd like to see changed?
QQ - I'm unable to move backwards through a playlist / album. It appears that functionality has been removed...only able to progress forward...am I missing something?
I had to check the discussion forums too to determine if what I had just updated to was completely missing assets or entirely broken.
The new UI is shockingly blinding and unappealing to use.
Please, please, please conform to Mac UI standards and skin the damn client to look like an OS X application.
Haha, claudia's copy and pasting responses like Madelyn now. No better way to show your customers you care.
Claudia, the app needs two improvements, stat:
1. Add back the icons to the left-hand menu so it's easy to scan without having to read the text.
2. Put back the vertical separators between scrolling columns, so I can tell where the different lists begin and end. I mean, I *know* where the separators are, but I don't *feel* it visually, so it feels like mental work to make that happen.
Horrible interface, very ugly, very disappointing!!!
Since the Rdio Employees just copy and paste stock responses into every similar thread, I say we all do the same. Here's what I said in ANOTHER thread discussing the AWFUL design:
"What they said. This is not so much a step backwards as it is tripping, falling off the curb, and landing in a dirty puddle.
And am I the only one who misses the circle graphs of play counts, etc.? The graphic elements when I originally signed up months ago were what put me over the fence, but everything EVERYTHING I liked about the look got tossed.
It's like Rdio fired everyone in their design department except for the intern."
I love you Rdio, but the new interface is ugly. Sorry! Sometimes the truth hurts.
Your site is very difficult to navigate especially for people with poor eyesight. If you are saying this design is here to stay, that suggests that every customer who is financing this venture who dislikes the design is out of luck, period. Is that really a way to do business? Because what the does is make me think, well, then I'll pull my monthly payment and that would be here to stay too.
How about implementing a few simple themes, with this thing called color. I think it would make life easier on a lot of us. I am so tired of searching for the thin grey scroll columns.
Seeing how this was addressed in July and it looks like a blank page to me most of the time, I think when this month is up, I am out of here. It is a shame, because the rest of your service is top-notch.
Your design team needs to truly realize that minimalism is very appealing to a lot of people, but it has its place. On a website that depends on a navigation, it truly, if not completely fails.
