HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!

Spinning Giant Jul 06, 2012 07:42AM PDT

Not only is the new skin/interface/UI an appalling and dysfunctional design disaster - worse, MUCH MUCH worse - the damned new version of the software doesn't work!!! - it is slow, buggy, jumpy and generally garbage - it is useless and totally unacceptable for something one pays for - there is SO much wrong with it - I tried downloading two albums (MP3s) today and not only did it cut-out/crash halfway through - when I checked my library I had 2 copies of HALF of 1 album instead of 2 complete albums - I am still waiting to hear how this is going to be rectified by rdio -

rdio staff/owners/etc - why you stubbornly refuse to reinstate the totally functional and perfectly usable previous version is beyond me (at the very least you could make it available for those who prefer it) - you're clearly not listening to all the negative feedback you're getting on the latest update from devoted and, one would think (perhaps mistakenly?) valued customers - clearly you must see that there is NO postive feedback on the new version and that you have made a mistake - what does it take to get you to listen to us???

Apparently you just plain don't care about your customers -

Either you're foolish, or arrogant, or don't need our money, or all of the above -

What I can guarantee you, rdio staff/owners/etc is that I will be cancelling my subscription and switching to one of your competitors as soon as I decide who to go with -

Enjoy living in your fool's paradise until it all comes crashing down around you -

what did they say in the email Spinning? Just so we're transparent here.

Ryan

Issues with the functionality of the new version were not addressed at all in the email response

They have refunded my account for the missing/lost MP3s

I am still very dissatisfied with the new version and looking into my options for alternative services - unfortunately up here in Canada we are somewhat limited as yet - many of the comparable services available in the US and Europe are not yet available here (i.e MOG & Spotify et al) - hopefully soon

It doesn't seem that rdio has any plans to appease customers by making the older, more functional version available, which is baffling - why can't we have the choice? We are paying for this service - I'm sure the intention was to make things better, but as we all agree they have made things worse, whatever the intention - they could have spent more time addressing the functionality of the new version (adding/reinstating requested features like genre browsing/classification for one) - instead we get an ugly, dysfunctional update - it doesn't make any sense, does it?

Hi guys,

Definitely not cowardly and transparency is paramount for us. I simply elected to address Spinning Giant in a private email because it was billing related. Separately, I can say that we are an advocate for Rdio customers and the design teams are being made aware of all posts and emails containing user feedback. We appreciate your continued involvement with the Rdio community and we hope you stick around for upcoming improvements.

Best,
Nate

Count me as another user that came for a superior interface, but had to cancel because they ruined not only the interface, but have been condescending to its users and downright obstinante about incredibly bad design decisions.
I've seen nothing but copy/paste replies in every forum and Twitter thread. It's obvious that they are blowing smoke up our butts while inept designers make carte blanche choices that ignore usability and accessibility. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised considering the history of the management. I guess they are just begging someone to come along and steal their customers away.
Rdio may say it doesn't mater if a few people leave, but we are the ones that would be bringing in more customers instead of warning them to take their money elsewhere like we did.
This is a fiasco akin to what Netflix pulled last year.
