Why isn't Linkin Park's album Hybrid Theory available in Canada?

Lee Robert Jul 23, 2012 12:30PM PDT

It's very frustrating that there are four copies of Hybrid Theory on rdio and none of them are available to Canadians in any way shape or form even though we can buy the album in stores. Why isn't there a Canadian release?

Hi Lee,

Some tracks are unavailable or preview only because we don’t yet have licensing rights to stream this music in your region. These rights are determined by the music’s Label and/or Rights-holders.

These clipped or unavailable songs or albums will sometimes be available for purchase as a download — which is also determined by the rights we have.

We know unavailable music can be frustrating, but we’re working on acquiring streaming rights for as much music as possible. Licensing more music is a priority for us, and we’re working on additions to the Rdio catalog full-time. You can request albums to be added to the catalog right here: http://on.rdio.com/CatalogReqs

Best,
Mike

I have submitted a request, but how will you know that it is a canadian request?

Also, all the other albums are from the same label, why would the rights be any different on the international release of that album versus the other ones?

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your reply. There should be a required 'Country' field on the request form.

All rights are determined by the Label and/or Rights-holders—I'm not sure why that particular album is unavailable.

Cheers,
Mike
