Player Freezes/becomes unresponsive randomly and crashes

Dan Delphin Oct 20, 2011 03:05AM PDT

Your player is constantly freezing and becoming unresponsive. It often doesn't play music after clicking the play button but changes to pause anyway. I have to click it multiple times to get it to actually play. Please fix these things.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for checking in with us on this-- we'd like to get to the bottom of what you're seeing as quickly as possible. Here are a few things to try first:

1) Make sure you have Rdio open in a single desktop, browser or tab, not multiple instances at the same time.
2) Try refreshing/reloading Rdio by hitting CMD+R.
3) Quit and restart the Windows App, then try Rdio.
4) Try deleting and reinstalling the Windows app.

Also check that you're not blocked by a firewall, say, at work (check that here http://player.bitgravity.com/debug/), then send us a note with your OS details.

Thanks for your patience,
Vivian

I'm having similar issues with Win7. The Rdio windows app often crashes after being open for a few hours.

Also, when I reopen the app after a crash, the app seems to be confused about whether I'm logged in or out. All the controls in the dark grey bar at the top behave as if I'm signed out, but everything below the dark grey bar behaves as if I'm signed in. (e.g. I'm shown the option to "sign in", play/pause and next/prev are disabled and music won't play, but I can navigate to my dashboard, collection and playlists, view albums, add to collection, etc.)

Clicking "sign in" has no effect and I have to restart Windows to get the app to function normally again.

Hi Matthew,

We've recently released an updated Windows Phone 7 app - would you please try deleting and reinstalling the app and let us know if this clears up what you're seeing?

Thanks,
Vivian
