I'm running the RDIO application on an HTC Trophy with the Mango version of the OS. I started using the Window's phone in September and was excited to find that there was an RDIO application for the device.
That excitement quickly turned to frustration. Since I've been using the application, I have had nothing but issues (crashes, never-ending loading sequences, interface issues, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, etc...). Even with those issues, I continued to attempt to use the app and was getting mildly encouraged by the constant updates (the most I have ever seen for an app in that short amount of time). Since I was paying for the service, I want to use it.
All that optimism has faded after the last 2 updates. The app is no longer working at all. Every time I attempt to play a song, the app plays the first 20 seconds then displays the "Playback Stopped" message. As of today, I'm done trying to get it to work (not that I should have to work so hard at getting an app to actually do what it is supposed to do).
I love the service on the computer and the iPad, but being on the go as much as I am, the phone is where I need my music. The application is now completely useless, and is quickly becoming a deal-breaker for me to keep the service. I'm going to give the application one more chance on the next release (which I hope is coming soon) before I make a decision to move on.
It just isn't worth the money if the service doesn't work. Period.
My question is: When are these issues going to be fixed and when is the new version coming out?
Hi Mathew,
I'm very sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this—we're submitting an updated version of the app this evening, and hoping to have it approved and live in the app store very soon.
In the meantime, a couple of things to try if you haven't already:
- Restart your device — does the problem persist after a restart?
- Try streaming over 3G and Wifi. Does one work but not the other? If so, there might be a problem with one of the connections.
- Delete and reinstall the app — though it’s a last resort, sometimes a full fresh start will clear up the issue.
If that doesn't do the trick, please let us know, so we can keep you updated on the update (and find a way to make up for the lost time using the app).
Best,
Madelyn
Madelyn,
Any update to this? The app is completely unusable at this point and I've already asked for a refund about 2 hours after I purchased a subscription as I cannot use the only reason I subscribed.
Hi Harrison,
I've sent a response to your email with a bit more information—unfortunately, we don't yet have an update on the release date. My apologies for the continued frustration with this version app. We'll keep this thread up-to-date with information on the new release.
Best,
Madelyn
Hi Mathew,
Windows App version 3.4.0.0 is now available—would you upgrade, and send details on any issues you're still seeing? Thank you again for your continued patience while we work to improve the app.
Best,
Madelyn
The problem with this app is everything. IT DOES NOT WORK. IT NEVER HAS IN THE LAST $ MONTHS OF HAVING A WINDOWS PHONE. YOU SHOULD BE ASKING FOR FEEDBACK ON ISSUES WE MIGHT STILL BE HAVING AFTER SO MANY UPDATES. WHAT IS WRONG WITH RDIO? YOU ARE STILL SELLING A BROKEN PRODUCT. LAW SUIT TO FOLLOW.
This app is still not working. It just sits on "Loading..." and never plays anything. I've updated the app, uninstalled and installed it and tried it on 3G and WIFI. It appears you just can't get the service to run on a Windows phone (or just an HTC Trophy). I am very disappointed in the new app and the service now as a whole.
It is just unfortunate that RDIO can't get it right. I'm planning on moving on and looking for a new option.
Please remove the app from the store until you have something that works (or at least test it before releasing?). There is no need to keep this out there and cause people to waste their time.
