101 Error?

Hi!
I use the Rdio app in Windows 7. I've used the app for about 2 months and I've had no problems before, but now I can't get the app to open today. Each I try to open it, the wheel spins for a bit and then it says "Error - 101 when loading url http://www.rdio.com." While I can't open the app, Rdio is working fine in Firefox. How can I get the app back?

Downloading

Why can't i download songs onto my desktop like rhapsody? When my kids are playing Xbox Live and i'm on my tablet i like to play downloaded tracks (read no skipping) through my home PC. Also, when i'm just working on my desktop i like to listen to downloaded albums while i'm working. i hate it that i hear a slight pause or skip every time i hit the "search" button or even drag and paste or edit my excel programs. Downloaded songs just play seamless. I still have to log onto rhapsody to license the songs; why can't i do this on rdio. I'm thinking about getting a mac mini but the mac doesn't support the rhapsody app so a genius told me about rdio. I'm in my 14 day trial but i wont go mac if i cant have rhapsody or the equivalent experience on rdio.

Hello,

I get an all white screen on both the Windows Desktop version and the web version. On the desktop version I am able to login but once I sign in its just a a white space, however, when I click the mini player, I can see that. I just don't get anything on the web version. I've tried this on IE and Safari and get the same thing. I've cleared cache and updated flash and I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times...any other options?

Windows App stuck at login screen size

This appears to be a recurring issue as searching help has turned up others who have had the same problem.

I'm a new user and just installed the RDIO windows desktop application (Windows 7, Chrome). After providing my login details the app correctly logs in, but the window stays the size of the login box and I'm unable to interact with it at all.

rdio.log (AppData/Local/Rdio) contains the following dump:

Window does not resize after logging in

When I log in, my Rdio window goes to the small window you'd see when you log in. Once it authenticates, the window doesn't expand/maximize, and I cannot resize it. See the link below for an explanation.

How can I fix this issue? I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. It's likely irrelevant, but my primary browser is Google Chrome, updated to the latest version. This issue has only started happening today.

"Application cannot be started" error on install

I know this is an error that pops up a lot, and I've seen all the 'fixes'. Reinstall .Net 3.5, uninstall the app, clear out app/localdata folder. None of it works.

I'm trying to install Rdio on a Windows 8 machine. After the installer downloads, it immediately goes to "application cannot be started". Here's the dump.

Remove album or playlist from Queue now.

I want to know how to just remove a playlist or album that is playing and there does not seem to be a simple way to do this.

I found under the hidden freatures article thius: Holding down the Command (on Mac) or ALT (on PC) button when you click any of the buttons below will play the new thing, but also move the currently playing music down one slot in your Queue, and resume it when what you've clicked on finishes.

if you do that the album or playtlsit then goes to the play later queu and you can remove it.

it would be good to be able to do thiat wihout having to do ALT + play.

any ideas?

How do you force an update to the Windows application?

I couldn't figure out how to use the interface to force an update to the Windows Rdio application. To make things worse, I couldn't find out if this were even possible via the help system, which has an increidbly annoying any-words feature and thus is hard to find things. (Wake up: this in the Google age of web search, not the Yahoo dark ages! At the very least, add a search tips link.)

So how can the update be forced? I was given the option to update but originally indicated not to update. Therefore, I know an update is available.

Radio fails to start, says 'Play something new'

Hi there,

I really wanted to listen to artists similar to 'Two Door Cinema Club' and 'Artic Monkeys' but when I click the 'Play Radio' button on either artist's page, the 'now playing' bit at the bottom just says 'play something new'.

The radio works on other artists that I've never played on rdio before. But it's so annoying! I want to listen to similar music styles as those two artists but it won't let me?

Search Bar Size

When the Windows desktop app first opens, the Search Bar is about three lines down and obscures the word 'Browse, the name of the artist/playlist, and the album art. As I make the window size wider, it shifts up slightly, and isn't as obtrusive - although it still obscures the album art. Then when the window is taking up about 3/4 of my screen, the search bar pops back to the top. Surely one of the following should happen:
- Search bar should be reduced to fill the available space only, or should disappear under other components in the top bar
- Window should remember it's size so next time it's opened the search bar isn't obscuring other parts of the application.
I know this seems like a cosmetic thing, but it's quite annoying.
I would also like to add my desire for a darker skin option. - even just a 'reverse' mode would be fine. I've left Spotify because their Windows app has gone all White and they are not listening to their customers at all. I see plenty of requests on RDIO for a darker skin option. Is this going to happen (Spotify just remain silent on the issue).

Unable to click on dropdown menu

Hi All,

I don't know if this is just a problem with my machine but here goes... When running the Rdio windows app on my Windows 8 machine, when I try to add a song that's playing (or not) to a play list via the little dropdown to the very right hand side of the song, the menu does not appear when I hover over the icon. If I move my mouse to the left, eventually the little icon appears active again. When I say active, the icon (a green checkmark and little inverted triangle) is surrounded by a little bubble.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Greg.

offline on laptop

I am a new subscriber, migrating from Spotify for privacy reasons. As I understand it, it is impossible to listen to playlists when offline on a laptop. This is unfortunate, and a step down from Spotify. It means that, unless one has a preferred mobile device, there is no reason to have an unlimited subscription - right?

Sound plays back over all speakers with a 5.1 or 7.1 setup

My computer outputs 7.1 channels of PCM audio over an HDMI connection. When audio is played back through the Windows desktop app, the sounds are directed to all 7 speakers instead of just the front left and front right speakers. However the website (on Chrome) does not direct the sounds to all 7 speakers; it correctly directs the sound to only the front left and front right speakers. Is there a way to make the deskop app behave the same way?

The HDMI is routed from a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 to an AV receiver. I'm running version 1.12 of the desktop app on a fully updated version of Windows 8.

Key annoying flaws in Rdio

Hi,

I moved from Spotify to Rdio as the first one is not currently available in Brazil (where I'm right now).

Key flaws in Rdio that annoys me in the software are:

- Loading symbol/ slow loading of playlists. Once I click on one of my playlists, there is a delay to load. Why that? Isn't just a list of links? In Spotify this is always instantaneous

- Songs that don't play. Why is that happening?

- Is there a way to change the "View mode" of playlists? I would like to have a List view instead of the small artwork besides every track. Like the one that we have when opening an specific album from an artist

Best,
Alex

Web and Desktop applications refuse to play certain songs.

I've tested this issue across multiple browsers and it appears to be happening on a pretty regular basis now.

Essentially, an album will be playing and get to a certain song and stop playing. It appears to be attempting to play it, but it won't. I can skip to another song and it will play just fine. Even if I go to a different album and play other music for awhile, as soon as I come back to that song it will still refuse to play.

The other two users in my account have verified that this happens to them both at home and at work. I notice it at work and at home. Oddly, I can go to my iOS app and it will play, even when attached to the same network. As soon as I swap back to the Desktop/Web version, it won't play.

I found a few other discussions that seemed very vaguely related, but none of the presented solutions worked. I am running the latest version of Flash and tried the debug test at (http://player.bitgravity.com/debug/) which returned Success for all.

System specs:
Windows: Windows 7 Professional Edition (64-bit) Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)

I've searched for a solution and attempted each of the things that have been suggested but it has gotten progressively worse rather than better. As I search the help center, I see this issue goes back a year or so but no solution rather than a few basic trouble shooting tips has been given.

Is there a way to to have a song NOT repeat within a certain period of time after it's been played?

I listen to my collection station throughout the day, and the repeats are incredibly annoying.

Fresh Install of the App - App Won't Launch!

Fresh Install of the App (only to download purchased mp3s) and App Won't Launch!

Running Windows 7 (64-bit) and Kaspersky Anti Virus. Added rdio app to the exceptions list, so that Kaspersky wouldn't block the app. Still no luck. App tries to launch, an arrow starts spinning, then the app disappears and won't launch.

Can't download the purchased songs, and I'm guessing that the charge is pending on my credit card. Don't really want the app -- will listen to rdio via Chrome.

Any way to get the purchased mp3s without the app? If not, anyone have a workaround so that I can get the app to launch successfully?

Tried uninstalling the app and a fresh re-install, but no luck.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Rdio windows desktop app doesn't display correctly when interface is made larger

See a screenshot at http://imgur.com/178q97a

I have seen this problem on Windows Vista, 7, and 8. To reproduce:

1. Right click the Desktop and select 'Personalize'.
2. In the window that pops up, select 'Display' on the left.
3. Choose 'Medium' (125%) or Larger (150%)
4. Log out of Windows and log back in to apply the settings.
5. Start Rdio, and you will see that it does not display correctly.

I use Rdio on a PC which is connected to a TV, and it can be difficult to see text and other things on the screen if I don't increase the size of the interface. I expect it's also difficult for users that have poor vision.

Windows 8 App

I'd really like to see a stand alone app developed for Windows 8. Rdio works fine in the browser, but Windows 8 doesn't allow browsers to run in the background so consequently, music gets shut off whenever you minimize the browser or open another app. A full featured Rdio app would fix this and provide a good unified experience. Are there any plans to create a Windows Store App for Windows 8 in the works?

Any ways to present music by kind or search by kind, like world music etc ?

I seem to like the comprehensive catalogue but find a hard way with the controls.

Ever since updating to the latest version, my sidebar has been missing, as seen in the screenshots below. No matter how I try resizing the app the sidebar won't show like it's supposed to be. I'm using Windows 7. What could be wrong?

Playlist Editing

This is more of a feature request.
Is there any way to make playlists searchable or organizable by artist or song or any method really.
I have a large playlist that I would like to be able to sort and edit but it's a huge PITA to scroll through 500+ tunes looking for one artist or track inparticular.
Something akin to the iTunes method would be great where you can sort by artist, track, date added etc.

Mostly I'm talking about from a Windows desktop viewpoint but the iOS app could also benefit from this feature.

One other item on the iOS app, is there anyway to switch off the mix in related artists feature on the radio stations? I can't see it and I have to toggle it from the PC if I want to change it.

Thanks.

Crash when re-sizing window

I'm using Windows 8 64-bit, and sometimes when I resize the Rdio Desktop window, the app will crash. Especially when using a corner to resize, though it happens with all four edges and all four corners. During the resize I'll sometimes see the graphics in the window become skewed and corrupted. It doesn't happen instantly, and if you use the app without resizing it, or if you manage to resize it without it crashing, it works perfectly otherwise. All scrolls, animations, sound, etc work like they should.

I've also noticed the subscribe button in the top bar isn't clickable.

I'm using two 9600GT GeForce cards in SLI, and I've tried with SLI on and off. I can see that Rdio uses D3D9 in some capacity, as my Rivatuner software captures fps data when it's running. I've tried unloading all the gaming monitors/video enhancements/performance monitors to make sure they're not causing the issue. I'd like to send some logs or help capture other data to help you guys fix this. I can make it happen 100% of the time.

I love Rdio, and I want to do all I can to help. It's made work so much easier for me.

For a few weeks now I have had problems loading the rdio site to stream online. I am behind a large company's firewall/proxy, however I have not had problems in the past with it loading until just recently (maybe 3 weeks ago?). Did scripting on the site change? I know I have issues with scripts on occasion.

I have tried loading it on Chrome, Firefox and IE 8 and all of them have the same problem. The browser acts like it is loading the site, but nothing actually loads. It leaves the page blank white and the status bar says "waiting for ak.rdio.com".

Importing Local Music

I have music on my computer that I would like to import to Rdio, but the "Match Collection" feature doesn't seem to be working for me, as it only imports a few songs rather than all of my music, which I have in folders under Libraries - Music - (Album Name) - (Song Name). I know in Spotify that users had the ability to choose where to import from, but it seems to me that this is not the case in Rdio. Is there a way to import my songs to Rdio so I do not have to open my Library on my computer to play my songs? Thanks.

Annoyed by inter-song-gaps&pauses

I love RDIO and its vast new release selections every week
however
the pauses between songs , gaps
on a wide variety of platforms,
IOS, Android (bot 2.2 and 4.x), and PC (XPsp3, Win7ultimate, Win8beta)
and analysis with Wireshark from within the segment indicates
the stream pauses originate with your server. Period.
from 1 to 7 seconds duration
backbone is 100baseTX, router is on DSL with Bell Canada at 4.7Mb down
about 630Kb up, and there are no DNSresolving issues; the DSLAM
streams very nicely at all times of the day, some issues during song stream
with few RDIO program stutters- so the streaming is reliable.
The pause song-gaps are annoying esp. when the content continues.

So after about 6? months of subscription, I am asking if there have been any new developments(?). I have the latest PC client available; I gave up on mobile
clients, Android and iOS and the like.
I wanna stick with PC. I wanna stick with RDIO as the new release lists are quite
good and even if some material is unavailable, it usually is available at a later time.

PC DESKTOP APP
WIN7 ULTIMATE (and several other OS)
RDIO 1.11.0.0 latest
near perfect DSL conditions
near perfect segment
no other issues with streaming
national Canadian National ISP (Bell Canada)

still issues between songs, pauses for between 700mS and about 7.5 Sec (at longest)

...i wish (PC RDIO app) had some cache action to cover the inter-song gaps...
